Ode to Tony Danza

"Ode to Tony Danza"
Title by Timmy
11/7/06

With a character so strong
he always plays his role.
An actor with a charge
his story is often told.
From Mr. Banza in Taxi
to the Boss we know so well
Tony's got the part,
and that voice we hear yell:
Angela!
Samantha!
Mona!
Jonathan!
It still rings in our ears
Not only is it the voice
but the memories that we hear.
But his acting didn't stop in the 80s
there's so much more for him to do
Also a Singer, Producer, & Dicector
It shows that he's multi-talented too.
Tony knows how to get the parts
that keep his name alive.
He even plays himself
on Saturday Night Live.
So thank you Tony Danza
for taking us on that ride
And even though the talk show didn't work
we're still glad that you tried.

Chris Smither's left knee was a metronome..........

Chris Smither's left knee was a metronome..........
Title by Catherine Rohland
Poem by Cynthia Wilson

Chris Smither's left knee was a metronome..........
He keeps the time from beat to beat
with just the tapping of his feet
The accompanyment is little known
but it's what musicians can do alone.
So much music is built inside.
It can help us feel alive.
To share his style,
and amplify this sound.
He puts a microphone,
close to the ground.
A simple movement,
yet a motion so strong,
can change the sound,
of his melodious song.

As soon as possible (ASAP)

As soon as possible (ASAP)

Title by Eike

Send a reply
I need to know why
Please get back to me
As soon as possible.
Move to the side.
I need to get by.
I've got to meet a client
as soon as possible.
Please finish this assignment.
I have a deadline to meet.
My boss needs the report
as soon as possible
There is an urgency to the request
with an explanation to do your best.
There's a timeline to meet
and it's as soon as possible.

Cosmic

Cosmic
8/8/06
By: Cynthia Wilson
Title by Kathleen McElroy

The stars up in the sky
or how do you look into his eyes.
The feeling spawned from romance
or from a friendly dance.
The reactions that make light shine.
The connections made throughout time.
Meteors shower across the universe
and then into pieces they disperse.
Proving hope along the way
to those who need a better day.
The bright sunshine,
the darkness that falls,
It's cosmic, baby
for one and all.

Phantasmagoria

Phantasmagoria
8/7/06
By: Cynthia Wilson
Title By Jesse

within the perfect beat.
Music that moves your soul
and makes you tap your feet.
It's the blue skies
on a sunny day
or a simple smile
from a friend along the way
It's the first flower in spring
or snow glistening on the land
It's the view at the mountaintop
or when true love holds your hand
It's finding a four-leaf clover
viewing a sunrise at sea
It's living day to day
with peace and harmony.

Discombobulated

Discombobulated

Title by John @Milkboy

There are too many changes afoot
that I can't see my current direction.
My energy is spent
searching for perfection.

I feel all discombobulated.
I'm trying to put the pieces together.
There is something missing here
but I know that they're related.

There's a reason for this drama
A wavelength for me to find
A calming wind is coming soon
to give me peace of mind.

My Mind Went Blank

My Mind Went Blank
7/15/06
By: Cynthia Wilson
Title by Carol Wilson

My mind went blank.
I don't know what to say.
Ask me a question
any other day.
My stomach is full.
I'm enjoying a fine wine.
I can't help with the answer
it will have to be another time.
You put me on the spot
and I don't like tests.
Why would you ask me
instead of all the rest?
It happens to the best of us
when something seems absurd.
When put to a simple task
We just don't know the words.

Deluge

Deluge
6/2/06
By: Cynthia Wilson
Title by J. Morrin III

A dark cloud hung above
and hovered between
the bouts of sunshine.
The humidity drove sweat
down the faces of many.
Then a deluge of rain
came to cleanse the soul.
Lightning struck
and the thunder rolled,
bringing people into respite
and introducing
strangers on the street.

I can't

I can't
1/6/06
By: Cynthia Wilson
Title by Randy

Frustration spawns
confusion surrounds
Sometimes I can't
get my feet off the ground.
I get stuck in time
where I can't write a line.
I've put up a boundary
that I can't surpass.
I hope that this feeling
is not one that lasts.
I need to get past
the words I can't
to give my writing
that stupendous slant.
